Instructional Coaching – Frequently Asked Questions
What is instructional coaching?
Instructional coaching is a collaborative, non-evaluative partnership designed to support teachers in strengthening their
practice. Coaching focuses on reflection, goal-setting, and practical strategies aligned to a teacher’s classroom, students, and professional goals. Coaching is not about fixing teachers; it’s about building on strengths and growing confidence.
Who do you work with?
I work primarily with Pre-K and early elementary teachers, new and early-career educators, experienced teachers seeking
renewed clarity, and schools or early childhood programs supporting teaching teams in both public and private settings.
What areas do you support?
Coaching support may include early literacy and language development, early math instruction, classroom environment
and routines, lesson planning and instructional clarity, co-teaching and modeling lessons, and building teacher confidence and sustainability.
What does a coaching session look like?
Sessions vary based on goals and may include reflective conversations, classroom observation, co-teaching or modeling strategies, and collaborative feedback. Teachers leave with clear next steps they can apply right away.
Is coaching evaluative?
No. Coaching is non-evaluative and confidential. My role is to support growth, not to assess performance. Coaching
creates a safe space for teachers to reflect and try new approaches without judgment.
How is coaching different from professional development?
Professional development is often one-size-fits-all. Coaching is personalized and responsive, grounded in real
classrooms, real students, and real instructional challenges.
Do you work in classrooms?
Yes. Coaching may include classroom observation, modeling, or co-teaching when appropriate. All classroom-based
work is planned collaboratively with the teacher.
Do you offer virtual coaching?
Yes. Coaching is available in person, virtually, or in a hybrid format depending on location and needs.
How long is a coaching engagement?
Engagements range from short-term goal-focused support to ongoing coaching partnerships over several weeks or months. Coaching packages and school-based contracts are available.
How do you measure success?
Success is defined collaboratively and may include increased teacher confidence, stronger instructional practices, improved classroom flow, and renewed joy in teaching.
What are your qualifications?
I bring 28 years of early childhood classroom experience, experience in public and private school settings, a Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education, and certification as an Instructional Coach, both from Georgia Southern University.
How much does coaching cost?
Rates vary based on format, length, and scope of services. Individual sessions, coaching packages, and school contracts are available. A detailed rate sheet is provided upon inquiry.
How do we get started?
The first step is a free discovery conversation to explore goals and determine if coaching is a good fit. From there, a customized coaching plan is developed.
